The IMPORTANT part is that I can accomplish the same thing from a Windows machine from the same network as my SL machine via putty (win ssh client) and Exceed. That indicates that the issue is with my local SUSE setup. The last line of the verbosed ouput is identical in both cases:

Just a thought. When you use the SSH command are you using the -X option? like: ssh -X user@remote.server.com ? Brad B
