last monday I updated the kernel of our Suse Linux 7.3 server (k_deflt-2.4.18-262.i386.rpm, compaq DL380). After that, the server died every night, just after Leagato Networker backup software contaced the server.
Then, I fall back to the original kernel that came with 7.3. Now everything works normal again.
Any ideas what went wrong?
No. But I had strange problems too, when I made exactly the same update of my SuSE 7.3: In certain moments the PC freezed while I was working (doing nothing special), and my scanner's SCSI card did not work at all. So I updated to the patched kernel proposed for SuSE 8.1 (2.4.19-274), and it seems that everything is o.k. Maybe that is an option for you, too. Without warranty, of course :-) Bye, Hatto
