It seems to me that at least a part of the fix is inside the sendmail.cf config file ? Since these files are never touched while upgrading but instead just saved as
, wouldn't you just stay vulnerable until you manually merge the difference between those files ??
By default on SuSE systems, sendmail.cf is dynamically created by SuSEconfig.sendmail. So run SuSEconfig --module sendmail as part of the upgrade. If you do not let SuSEconfig generate sendmail.cf then you can regenerate it yourself by re-running the m4 processor (does anyone still generate sendmail.cf "by hand" without using m4?)
