First, thank you for the quick reply! In fact, this seams to be a start point. I'm not sure if I really want to explain users how to use telnet (we are a department of architecture, most users have never seen a command line...). Maybe I can see if I find a client for MacOS and Windows that can be configured by a simple script (we would provide), so that the client only asks for a password, opens a connection in the background (as long as needed) and closes it - so the user should only have to click an icon, enter the password and close the "application" to log out. So I will try to implement this, if this is of interest, I will report later if this is a useable solution here. Again, thank you, CU, Lars.
