All, I'm looking for some advice on how to route mail messages to our company. I have a number of users on our mail server (running Solaris 8 and the latest sendmail), this machine is inside our firewall and contains quite a but of sensitive information. The firewall is running IP masquerading and is also serving as our firewall, this machine is a SuSE Linux 7.1 box with whatever version of sendmail the came with 7.1. My question is what is the best way to have mail deliver over SMTP to the mailserver ? I guess there are different ways to do this: 1. Have the gateway receive the mail (the gateway would to the machine pointed to by MX records) and send it to the mailserver using SMTP. 2. Port forwarding from the gateway of the SMTP port to the mailserver. Anu recommendations from a security point ? Thanks Daniel
