You might have to do a rpm -e {current SSH package} before installing the OpenSSH package .... as far as I remember, I had problems installing OpenSSH until I removed the existing SSH package.
I updated (open-) ssh some time ago and I had no problems. I used the "freshen" option of rpm without problems. RPM will do some backup of config file if some file should be overwritten or thinks like that. Take care of: 1) Review config file 2) Kill / Stop all sshd instances before trying to use "/etc/rc.d/sshd start" (a simple "/etc/rc.d/sshd stop" doesn't work because current sshd connections aren't terminated and sshd script messes up; at least this happened to me). My 2 cents ;) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ** RoMaN SoFt / LLFB ** roman@madrid.com http://pagina.de/romansoft ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
