Hello,
i'm upgrading to the new 2.2.19 kernel due to security reasons. do I need util-linux-2.11b-15.i386.rpm?
No. The change in this package is purely cosmetical. It makes the messages about an old version of mount disappear.
Speaking about "cosmetical changes" in mount: Last week I tried to update an UltraSparc 1 running SuSE 7.0 with the stock (non-SuSE) 2.2.19 Kernel. The system booted without any errors, but this is what I got when trying to log in (home directory is automounted via userland-nfsd): May 11 20:13:13 sparc64 kernel: nfs warning: mount version older than kernel May 11 20:13:13 sparc64 kernel: Unsupported unaligned load/store trap for kernel at <00000000004f85ec>. May 11 20:13:13 sparc64 kernel: Kernel panic: Wheee. Kernel does fpu/atomic unaligned load/store. So my guess is there's something terribly wrong with either the new sparc64 kernel or mount. I switched back to the (working) 2.2.16 kernel. Will there be upgrades of the util package for non-i386 architectures as well?
Thanks, Roman.
