found first part of the answer (still looking for second): i believe the problem hast to do with running twdb_check.pl i had used that tool to adopt the database to the changes in my config file. when i did the same to my test db i was able to reproduce the error. does anyone know how to correctly use this tool (or not use it at all?) thanks, .ps alter ego wrote:
I am experiencing a strang tripwire error message and can't find any documentation explaining it:
error message: olddbasefile_load: parse error (nfields=2)!>> 001.10 40755 962882 2 0 0 4
after running: tripwire -c tw.config -d tw.computer_db
how i got there: - created initial database - updated database after installing new software - (possibly) changed tw.config file by accident - tried another update, which produced the above error
i suspected that by accidentaly changing the config file i made my database unusable, and did the following to reproduce the error: - created new initial database - changed tw.config file - did consitency check -> no errors (just a list of files that had changed)
thanks for any help, .ps
