Scp is secure, but just a command line, if you like those. There is a graphical
front end to it, look on the putty page (
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ ) for the front end to pscp
(
http://www.i-tree.org/ ). By the way, putty is great, but you cannot do port
forwarding with it.
Terra Term with ssh does port forwarding, and I have used it with very good
results. There is a HOW-TO on tunneling pop3 through ssh (
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/Secure-POP+SSH.html ) and you can take
these instructions to tunnel ftp.
Another nifty thing you can do with this is to run vnc (look on X applications
in YAST) tunneled through ssh. Or, you can have just one application pop up on
your screen if you have a running X server on your windows box (or are in Linux,
of course) via command-line ssh and a few switches (sorry, I don't have the
exact command in front of me, or I'd post it). I haven't figured out how to make
this work under windows due to a lack of a command-line ssh app, however --- but
it can be done.
Hope this helps :)
