Sorry that I couldn't answer earlier. There is no need to apologize. Basically, you pinned down some nice ideas. It might be very helpful in the future if I could post the locations of packages that need a test (update release candidates). If you feel inclined to test them, it will give you acess to the patched packages a bit faster (changes to the packages are unlikely once we fix a problem).
