Hi all
is it possible to have ipchains resolving internet names? If yes, how?
ipchains is - simply spoken - for filtering your traffic. If you want to know how to let DNS traffic pass through your firewall then you should check what ports and protocols DNS traffic uses. Look up this inforamtionin /etc/services and /etc/protocols: domain 53/tcp # Domain Name Server domain 53/udp # Domain Name Server tcp 6 TCP # transmission control protocol udp 17 UDP # user datagram protocol The above are only examples, please verify them and never use filter rules without knowing what you are doing. Thank you
