From the security standpoint???????
I have the same problem sometimes. Reseting the mouse - I have a Logitech cordless mouse with a reset button - helps most times.
But the problem occured with a "normal" PS2 mouse, too. So the problem may be caused by the cpu switch Master View I'm using. Unfortunately I couldn't reset the normal mouse and had to start X again.
BTW, it happens with another computer with W** NT4 at the same cpu switch, too.
