Create a boot script in /sbin/init.d called sshd2 it should look like this #! /bin/sh # script to start sshd2 on boot case "$1" in start ) echo "starting the ssh daemon" /usr/local/sbin/sshd2 || return=failed ;; stop ) echo "shutting down the ssh daemon" killproc -TERM sshd2 || return=failed ;; restart ) echo "restarting ssh daemon" $0 stop && $0 start || return=failed ;; * ) echo "usage: {start|stop|restart}" ;; esac make sure the script is executable preferable 0500 permissions. The cd to /sbin/init.d/rc2.d and make a symbolic link like say ln -s /sbin/init.d/sshd2 S14sshd2 and also ln -s /sbin/init.d/sshd2 K14sshd2 these two are to start and stop the daemon on booting and halting respectively. If you're booting into X windows then these links should be done in /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/ On Wed, 22 Nov 2000, webmaster wrote:
Hi, I am at loss with SuSe6.3 init.d I hope there are some who could give me step by step instructions how to start sshd2 automatically at boot time
Manual says: to start sshd2 at boot ...there should be symbolic links to its startup script in /etx/rc.d/init.d directory. In SuSe, add symlinks manually
But on my box it is: ls -al /etc/rc.d/init.d lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 1 May 2000 /etc/rc.d/init.d -> .
The sshd2 path is /usr/local/sbin/sshd2
At present sshd is running at boot from /usr/sbin/sshd
I am at loss - maybe very simple but ....thanks for tipps.
