given it was fixed between p174 and p248 i wouldnt call it "didnt care" so the real solution would be to find the changeset that fixed it between those 2 patchlevels and then apply it to our ruby packages on the older distros. wouldnt you agree?
Fixing rubygems was *way* easier than trying to isolate the correct ruby fix and getting e.g. SLES10 ruby updated.
