Can we automate suffixes on package names somehow ?
no. we dont want that.
Why ? Any reasoning for that ?
we dont need it all the time? it makes it almost impossible to get rid of the outdated packages? (no an obsolete for foo-1_1 in the foo-1_2 is *not* the right answer) and we currently use 2 different techniques anyway 1. when we want to have a long term maintenance of 2 parallel branches of a package -> suffixed version. (e.g. rails+rails plugins) 2. for temporary solutions i just provide the old and the new version in the same package. had to do that when rails 3 was out fresh and rails 2 didnt work with rack 1.1. then the rack package had both versions in it as a temporary workaround. darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ruby+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ruby+help@opensuse.org
