Hi everybody, I am Xiaoyu Feng and I use the nickname "lucifer" for activities online: for GSoC and for IRC channels. Actually I am quite new to the world of open source development because I get started in computer science rather late I would say. Nevertheless, I would like to make my own contributions. I am now studying in a French "Grande Ecole", an engineering school. Due to the specialty of the French Higher Education System, I have had intensive courses on mathematics and physics during the first two years. For computer science, only Pascal was taught as a general introduction. School - INSA de Lyon (National Institute for Applied Sciences) Department - Telecommunications Year - 1st year in engineering education, 3rd year in overall higher education system Expected year of graduation - 2014 Programming languages that I have studied:C/C++, Java, php, SQL And I am ready and eager to learn new things. For GSoC 2012, I am applying for the project of SUSE Studio Java Client SDK. I would like to have your advice and help on this project because its goal is to facilitate development in Java. So I am keen to communicate with you in order to know what you think about it and how you would use it. There are several reasons why I would like to work this:First of all, I really have the enthusiasm for the code. I am interested in programming and I would like to progress in this field and in particular, in object-oriented languages like Java. Secondly, I really appreciate and support the idea of open source development. The best code come always from open source projects because everybody can bring in his own contribution. And the open source projects enable everybody to have the right to use high-quality software no matter rich and poor, thus break the monopoly of certain companies. To participate in the project requires enthousiasm for the code and the web. And to undertake the work however it does not need high-level programming skills. Therefore I think I am capable to achieve the success since I possess the qualities of a good GSoC participant. In addition, I am taking a course on Java this semester,and it will undoubtedly be beneficial. This is really a great opportunity for me.
