Ok, completely agree to this, but how you want to do this? openFATE is
right on the floor, and it doesn´t need an additional committee, maybe
just give that task to the board? And, just to get clear, isn´t that
also a task of a community manager?

Apologies for the late response, I've had a rather busy day. openFATE
does not apply here, in my opinion.
Wrt a steering committee, I would prefer not giving it to the board in
its current state/role. For the time being, the board has been charged
with fairly innocous tasks - trying to steer openSUSE is not one of
those.
Thinking out loud - the current board is the board of the
yet-to-be-established foundation/organization. A steering committee is
much, much more than that.
