just for accuracy, the openSUSE Board proposed this to the election committee 
and the committee obviously support this proposal. The election process is in 
hands of the election committee and the Board doesn't have any decision power 
in here. 
In short, the period for membership request and announcing candidacy is 
extended by one week. And the period of campaigning is shortened to 1 week to 
stay with the election starting date Dec 8.
