Hi. I am new to this project, have not yet read your archives, so I hope you'll take my comments with a bit of patience, see below.. Henne Vogelsang wrote:

There are a lot of features missing for users.o.o. Membership management for the board is one of them yes. Would you be willing to hack it? Please say yes! :) I might be able to put in a bit of time. No promise yet, though ;-) Cool!
Is there a Wiki page with a list of missing features or something like that? Not that i know of no. I can come by and tell you what we would need to membership management :) During my time on the board, I came up with the following list
All this is fine, but mixes a lot with the infrastructure discussion.
I would like to keep this a simple task. We failed long enough to find someone to hack on it. There are two things we would need for MM:
* 5 states of an application * New * To be Accepted * Accepted * To be Rejected * Rejected plus the respective listings.
* The voting field. (+1,0,-1) coupled with a free text field.

By "insfrastructure" you mean WHAT exactly? The way the project is run? This type of information is ususally included included in an "About Us" link somewhere. It seems you could incorporate this in "openSuSE" navigation box that appears in the top left navigation box. Of, if by infrastructure you mean the website design, here are some comments, for starters... * I find the site, http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org really unfriendly to "new" users. * Before a user woudl want to download, it seems they would want to know a LOT more about the product: features, software included, system requirements, what hardware is supported, etc. Eventually, you CAN get to this information, but it is very difficult. So, this initial page needs work. I actually did think to edit it a while back, but with my login, I couldn't. So???? I would really like to help with this, but don't have the means to do it at the moment. * I guess my point is what do you feel your audience is for this first page? It seems mostly designed for people already familiar with the project/product that simply want upgrades or something, not new users. -- ============================================================ Kay Schenk "Great people and great athletes realize early in their lives their destiny, and accept it.
