If the answers are not welcoming, then we should fix this. When you see
this, feel free to ask somebody else to step up and reply with a nicer
mail.

(of course, there are always cases where people clearly didn't even
search for a solution themselves while the solution is the first result
in google, and in those cases, we can't do much more than "please search
a bit before posting")

The wiki page you're working on is a good first step. But yes, this is
hard. Please note that for "old" contributors, it's sometimes hard to
remember what's difficult when you first try to contribute. So reminding
them about this doesn't hurt :-)
