And yast would have asked for
it, if you installed software only on the second DVD. Seems you didn't.

No, I think that Yast simply preferred to download stuff not in the first dvd from the oss/nonoss online repos instead. The DVDs were used during the initial upgrade, but not later. I think, that was over a year ago.
