That might be true for those lists. But this is not true in general.
Most of the major FOSS mailinglists are subscribers only.

no time but that means we need to find a new Director Inbound Product
Mgmt. :)

"If you want to be able to post from more than one email address, you
can subscribe the other addresses to the nomail version of the list.
