It wouldn't be the same -- the web forums I've seen don't have a good
concept of threading, so usual email styles don't translate too well.
Further, since it's easier to see e.g. ten posts at once in web forums,
people don't mind utterly pointless entries so much -- but with email,
utterly pointless mails are a serious usability problem.
I wouldn't use an email<->forum gateway, because I dislike the style of
communication on web forums even more than I dislike the interface of
web forums. :)
