Alexander, thanks for the detailed feedback. :)
If you are inclined to file bugreports, please do -- at least the OOo
splash is a known problem, no need to report that.
As for autologin allowing access to your data, anyone who steals your
machine can simply boot it with init=/bin/sh and enjoy all your data
without any passwords. Best bet is to encrypt your data -- either via
one of the encrypted filesystems tools or via manual gpg encryption.
But changing the default may still be a good idea. :)
