We could fallback to the current skin for smaller resolution. For the
transparency effect, you don't need 3D, just 3 backgrounds. Frame-less,
transparent dialogs could be the most tricky part.
We could also throw in some animations: when advancing steps, or on the
transition between the steps pane to show help.
This is of course mostly a marketing thing, the installer looks don't
affect its usability. That's why I guess it has changed little in that
department.

Easy to use, Quick installationtime, Pleasing look and feel.
So, are you going to plane reduce install steps?Because openSUSE has the
most install steps.
For what I know/heard, the look of the installer you found won't be
implemented for 10.3 due to technical reasons.

I'm not a developer, but I find those steps necessary. Thanks to them,
OpenSUSE is fully configured, with network, printers and other hardware
fully working.
I think this is one of the strong points of openSUSE. A new user might
find these steps boring, but at the same time he's driven step-by-step
through the configuration of his system, and potentially he's going to
enjoy it better.
With kind regards,
Alberto
