True... But there's nothing that automatically pops up when I installed
a new tv card in the machine for instance (at least not in GNOME). Does
it do it in KDE?

Yhea, perhaps we can't do it with drivers :-( But there's printer
definitions and monitor definitions as well.

Well, as I said, we can already do it with the Desktop Effects applet in
the Control Center (not sure how/where/if it's in KDE)
