Ummm... is it just me or... don't they already get the great openSUSE Build Service ?
What advantage do the companies that have the highest potential to sponsor such hardware draw out of that?
If they want to use it and "invest" into it to make sure the quality, build power, etc... is available, they should sponsor it.
Well, it is always easy to say someone should to this or that. If they don't do so it does not really help.
Don't you think it's enough of a benefit for them ?
Have you ever talked to companies to gain some money for a project? Sure, you can get some for technical solutions if a company does have some real interest in what you produce. But it is much easier and you get much more money if you attribute their contribution at a popular place. It is like sport sponsoring. Sure an athlet can get some equipment sometimes if he agrees to give feedback about the quality to the manufacturer. But life gets much easier for him if he places a logo of this vendor somewhere onto his sportswear. Apart from that: What's wrong with placing a logo of the sponsors on the pages? I think this is just fair. Robert -- Robert Schiele Dipl.-Wirtsch.informatiker mailto:rschiele@gmail.com "Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur."
