IMHO, this is great idea ! Because I think, that expanse of the OpenSource software in general is just a sweet dream without serious and continuous support and cooperation from/with commercial "companies". What I am trying to say is : No Money No Jazz ... Personally I would like to see the logos of great commercial Linux supporters :) But there is one thing, which could earn some coins to openSuSE : Small presents thingies like T-Shirt, Mug, Cap or just stickers for PCs/laptops etc. People can say, thousand reasons why not to sell some stuff like this, for example cause u need a producer, distributor etc. for these thingies, but I am just wondering, why Novell won't take care of it? Second reason one could say is that nobody will buy these things. I say that people who even love Microsoft would never wear the cap with white M$ logo, but I think that most of the openSuSE users would love to wear GreenLizzard wherever and by this way let the others know "Hey, you know this is a logo of my favourite Linux distro !" I hope I wasn't emotional too much ;) Best whishes with gathering some money for MY FAVOURITE :) KaiSVK On Friday 23 February 2007 13:46, Michael Loeffler wrote:
Hi all,
I asked in our last IRC meeting for your opinion on getting sponsors for openSUSE. To reach all of you I ask additionally on the mailinglist. We're currently looking for sponsors for the Build Service - hardware, bandwith and money. That's to increase performance and get broader backing for the whole project. The sponsors obviously want something back - presence. We'd like to offer them logo visibility at opensuse.org, build.opensuse.org and some high frequent pages like the downlaod pages. We'd reserve one place for a logo which is used randomley by all sponsors and won't be flashy, blinking images or similar. And we're talking only to companies in the IT environment.
Let me know what you're thinking about it.
Regards Michael
