Interesting links, thanks.
HTH, cheers.
Hi Manfred, what I am after is more like gcc and/or linker flags - these are my own applications, my own code - doesn't belong to any package. Another similar question- on my development system, I currently have libmysqlclient 0.15 installed - but the target system is still on 0.14. Preferably I would build my app such that it is linked against libmysqlclient.so without any version indication, but it seems to default to using the full name: ldd: linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libmysqlclient.so.15 => /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.15 (0xb7dae000) libpcre.so.0 => /usr/lib/libpcre.so.0 (0xb7d82000) libclamav.so.1 => /usr/lib/libclamav.so.1 (0xb7d37000) libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0xb7d25000) libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7c04000) libcrypt.so.1 => /lib/libcrypt.so.1 (0xb7bd1000) libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0xb7bbc000) libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0xb7b97000) libbz2.so.1 => /lib/libbz2.so.1 (0xb7b86000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7b72000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f04000) /Per Jessen, Zürich
