I am just starting with cvs and think that I understand the documentation. But ... I executed $cvs -d /data1/projcvs init This gave me the apprpriate set up in the correct place. On a different day I set the cvs root thus: CVSROOT=/data1/projcvs (and I did also try /data1/projcvs/CVSROOT) Then I tried to put my files in by cvs import -m"Initial code" name1 nameTage1 0.0 but I get the error No CVSROOT specified! Please use the '-d' option cvs [import aborted]: or set the CVSROOT environment variable So I tried cvs import -d /data1/projcvs -m"Initial code" name1 nameTage1 0.0 and variations but have had no luck. Anyone any ideas? Thanks for your time, Colin
