[opensuse-ppc] PPC CDs? newer kernels?

Is there any reason why there are no install CDs available for PPC?
My son's Powerbook G3 doesn't have a DVD drive. While it is on my
list of things to get, it may be a while before I have access to one.
The Wallstreet also doesn't have USB. It does have an external SCSI
port, but I don't have the proper adapter cable, nor do I have a SCSI
DVD drive. I was hoping to test out the 11.0 Beta1 since I can't get
v10.3 to install, but I'm still stuck.
I was also wondering why there are no newer kernels pre-built for PPC
like there are for x86 and x86-64. My Wallstreet has an issue with
the backlight that was fixed in a newer kernel, but I can't seem to
get one, and it's been so long since I built a kernel from source that
I'm leary of screwing something up.
Thanx
