I had to change some packages for alpha3 which were a little late for
alpha3. Give the following otheros.bld a try:
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/PS3/otheros/otheros.bld

Thanks a lot - that definately got things started. 
With the above kboot, the PS3 automatically kicks off the install on the dvd, 
and it installs, and it installs - but - there is always a but .

During installation of boot manager, I get an error, that I am sure I read 
about elsewhere, but cannot find again.
I get a white background window, with blue title bar, and black text saying:

Error occurred while installing ppc.

/usr/bin/stat: cannot stat '/boot/vmlinux': No such file or directory
/usr/bin/stat: cannot stat '/boot/vmlinux': No such file or directory
ERROR: can not find major:minor 0:0 for

Any hints? I sense I am almost there :-)
