Well, after fiddling around, I finally put my overclocked G4 chip back to stock speed(from 450 to 400Mhz). This seemed to have fixed the problem, but alas no. While I was able to actually start the installation with no issues now that I have an ATI Rage128/16MB video card, I am still having problems. YaST will inform me that a package has an error. If I hit retry or ignore, YaST fails and drops me back to a terminal and then starts booting. One tme it even started the system, but since i never actually entered a USID or password, I could not do anything. If I go ahead and reboot the machine, I get back to the start of that CD and it starts up again. The error is: Err: 3:Package lsb-3.0-18 fails integrity check. Do you want to retry downloading it, or abort installation? Well, this last reboot got past the lsb package........Starting to look like it will finally finish this time. I had a problem with the ieee1284 package earlier, and on the subsequent re-install, I deselected that package(Ummm, Macs don't have standard parallel ports, nor an I855 which is set to install on default either. Is there some reason that the i855 was put into the PPC tree? That's an intel specific part). I have tried different processors, different memory, different speeds, differnt CD drives(the 32x drive that was in the machine won't start the installer), different video cards, etc. I'm almost ready to give up. Am I the only one having these kinds of problems, or am I the only one trying to use these type of older machines? I have a hard time believing that I have 5 macs that all have some type of hardware problem.(7500, 9600, G3 beige, 6500, G3 B&W). Any help would be appreciated. All help that I have already been given has been greatly appreciated as well. ___________________________________________________ Try the New Netscape Mail Today!
