Marco thanks for the advise. I haven't tried the install via a HMC but the
IBM terminal is attached via a serial port and is set to emulate a vt100
so I believe this is a serial console.
However when yast starts the terminal goes blank. I'll try a HMC but I
believe it should be possible without one.

Retry the installation via a HMC or with a serial console, than you do not
have graphical issues.

[suse-ppc] Problems loading suse
onto ibm p710
Hi
I am trying to install suse enterprise linux power on an ibm p710. This
server does not have a graphics card, I am using an IBM 3153 terminal set
to emulate a vt100
I can boot to the sms menu and then select the cd device to boot from.
I then get the boot prompt and type install. The server loads the kernel
from the cd into ram and then states that it is starting yast. At this
point the screen goes blank.
I cannot therefore continue the install; I thought the server might be
trying to output yast as an x windows application instead of ncurses.
I therefore tried to install using the following string to enable
connection to eth0 using VNC. install vnc=1 vnc_password=abc.
The screen then prompts me to select eth0 or eth1. I select eth0 and the
kernel panics with the following error
kernel panic: hvsi_recv_control: service processor closed HVSI connection
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks
Martin
