The second question is if anyone has found a kernel with support for "energy saving" (i don´t know the right word in english), right now i can only run my computer on battery for about two hours before it dies without warning. And i can´t get the battrey monitors to work since my kernel isn´t compiled with support for mobile computers.
use pmud. the default suse kernel (I am using 2.4.16) has it built in and it turns my monitor off after a few minutes if i don't use it and I can sleep the computer, too. I rarely turn my iMac off. if you have a recent SuSE kernel, try typing 'snooze'.
