Use VT100 emulation. To do this manually on the IBM InfoWindow II 3153: Press <CTRL> + <minus on the number pad>. Under F1 screen, set 'Emulation=VT100' Press <CTRL> + <minus on the number pad> (again), and press 'y' to save changes. To do this from the command line during setup: append TERM=vt100 to the line: install console=ttyS0,9600 Thanks to all those who at IBM and SuSE who provided this information!
