Hi all!
I'm running a Suse PPC Linux Server on a G3 Server Machine.
Since RAM is cheap, I though on Upgrading the 256 MB Memory to 1 GB. So I bought 3 256 MB DIMM Blocks and stick them into the Server.
To my first surprise not all RAM was discovered or shown with "free".
Actually I have 4 DIMMs in the Server
2 x 128 MB 2 x 256 MB
= 768 MB
"free" shows this:
free -t total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 578784 558088 20696 113680 444824 59536 -/+ buffers/cache: 53728 525056 Swap: 262136 916 261220 Total: 840920 559004 281916
Any suggestions? Trick?
You should install a 2.4 kernel. It has highmem enabled and it should allow you to use more than 512mb. Gruss Olaf -- $ man clone BUGS Main feature not yet implemented...
