Thanks for the trick about the oschooser. It works well now. It was really a pain having to go through the openfirmware each time. The modem works as well, but only when the new ppp rmp (ie ppp-2.4.0-3.ppc.rpm) is installed. This is a good point. I still get the `eth0 PHY reset timeout !` each time i boot, but it does not look to be fatal. Sound does NOT work. I installed the modules-alsa.conf, included the line in the module.conf file (at the same location as in the example module.conf file posted on your web site). I did rcalsaound start as root and got the alsa sound driver started (driver name: snd-card-awacs). I am not too sure about alsamixer: i cannot toggle between the various channels. I used the kde mixer instead (and checked that unmuting channels with the kde mixer unmuted channels in the alsamixer as well) and unmuted all channels that could be unmuted. In particular, I unmuted headphone, which seems to be the channel that controls the volume of the internal speaker (this is the one to move to control the sound on the pismo at least). But nothing happens. I don't even get the system beep. Color table is just as POOR. I tried to remove the `video=ofonly' kernel argument, and it makes no difference at all. I tried to run sax2 -a and it essentially rebooted the x server (i'm not too sure whether it did something else: it did not update the /etc/XF86Config file in any case. Note that I'm still in XFree86 3.3. I need a proper XF86Config file (new version, the one that goes in /etc/X11) to switch to 4.0.1. I tried to make one that include the Screen section you suggested, but it need also a Device section that contains more than what i have at the moment (Identifier "Primary-Card"). I've read somewhere that there is a nvidia driver called nv, even for ppc, but that this driver does not work very well for the geforce2 mx. May be it does not work for acceleration, but it may help for the colors (it's really the x11 colors that don't work, the colors in console mode - init 2 - seem ok). Is this right?? I don't have this driver on the suse7.0ppc disc, and I have no idea of what i need to specify for the kernel arguments and for the XF86Config Device section (in particular BoardName, BusID, Option). Would you have it somewhere, or at least some idea of where i could find it?? Any help would be very welcome. Thanks again.
