try to reconfigure XFree 4.x with SaX 2. This works. I think when you install SuSE 7.1 for the first time the Framebuffer - Server is activated. You must configure the accelerated Server by yourself.
I'm trying to reconfigure using SaX2 but am confused. SaX2 says I have an ATI Rage 128 Pro AGP 4x (TMDS) with r128 driver. Expert says that I'm using these options: usefbdev,hw_cursor,dpms. I'm assuming that the first option is use frame-buffer device. Do I turn this off and substitute another option? But which option, there are so many. There is an "accel" option. There is also a "hdcursor" option. What's the difference between "hd_cursor" and "hdcursor"? Either way I've been unable to test these configuration changes. When I select test I get the familiar adjustment screen where I can tweek the width and height. When I click save configuration however the screen switches to gray with the X cursor and stays there without reloading my desktop. At this point I have to kill the session with ctrl + alt + delete.
