HFS crashing problems

Hello,

Recently, I have been crashing SUSE hard (all keyboard and mouse is dead)
several times a day when copying files to or from my Macintosh HFS
partition. I want to ask your advice.

When installing SUSE, I reformatted my Mac partition as HFS and am
running OS 9.04 on this partition and swapping files to and from it to
my Linux partition. Should there be a problem doing this?

When I mount my Mac partition under Linux, the kernel messages say it is
mounting an unclean partion. Why does it say this?

Should I have an HFS+ partition with a separate 'shared'
partition for swapping files between the Mac and Linux. I am guessing
that dumping files on the Mac side and then booting into the Mac via MOL
or rebooting, is confusing the directory structure of the Mac.

Any advice on how to safely deal with HFS paritions and going from Mac
to Linux and back with ease would be appreciated.

cheers

joss
