OpenOffice 609-FU port beta for PPC Linux
-----------------------------------------
Announcing the first beta release of the port of OpenOffice
(formerly Star Office) to PPC Linux.
This is a definitely a *beta* release port for early
adopter testing ONLY!
Please do not use this piece of software and then complain
that you "lost everything". You have been WARNED!
Please see http://www.openoffice.org for more info
about the status of OpenOffice
DownLoad Locations

Install Instructions
---------------------
This thing is huge, you need probably 250 meg free at least.
tar -zxf oo609FU_installer.tar.gz
chown -R YOUR_USER_NAME:YOUR_GROUP_NAME installer/
cd installer
# IF and ONLY IF you have an XPRINT SERVER running
# locally on your machine and want to experiment with printing
# do the following
mv f0_040 backup_f0_040
mv XPRINT_f0_040 f0_040
Then simply run setup and follow along with the installer
../setup
Known Bugs and Issues
---------------------
1. Interface to the Blackdown JDK (any of them) is not
working yet. This will work for the next release.
2. You will get debug warning messages about inability to convert
some items which can safely be ignored (we hope!)
3. The Calc (spreadsheet) app will sometimes hang on Exit
(if this happens to you simply open a terminal session
and type: killall -9 soffice.bin
4. This is a very experimental port and printing only works
if you have an XPRINT server running locally on your machine
(see XFree86 docs on how to use/setup an Xprint server)
Bug Reporting
-------------
Please send bug reports to me (and I will forward them
as appropriate to the dev@porting.openoffice.org list).
Include as much info as possible (a gdb backtrace,
strace info, complete info on which distribution you are
using, and the steps needed to recreate the error.
Credit
------
This port is the work of numerous people who have helped
to make OpenOffice work on PPC Linux. The list of
contributors includes (in no particular order) Jason Stewart,
Rich Johnson, Scott Hutinger, Kevin Hendricks, Daniel Boelzle,
Philipp Lohmann, Sander Vesik, Bob Meader, and many others.
Especially thank the original StarOffice team for writing such great
software in the first place!
