Date: Mon, Apr 30, 2012 at 11:47 AM Subject: Packaging IcedTea 2.x for 12.2 To: opensuse-packaging Hi,
Is there a plan to package IcedTea 2.x for 12.2? It seems that there is momentum building to move to JDK 7 by default [1].
Hallo, yes, there is. I pretty hope that I will start on it next week, so we can have openjdk7 package for 12.2. Regards Michal Vyskocil
If there is, I'd like to help, but the spec file [2] is a bit more complicated than the ones I usually work with. Here are a few questions:
1. Some defines are unused ; what is their purpose?
%define snapshot_date 20110729 %define fedorazip openjdk-7-fcs-src-%{openjdkver}-%{openjdkdate}.zip
2. There is a FIXME regarding mauve tests and JDK 7 ; how can I verify if this is still needed?
# Mauve test suite # FIXME: Is this applicable for 7? Source10: mauve-%{mauvedate}.tar.gz Source11: mauve_tests
3. What is the process of refreshing the sources for a new version?
I assume that I will retrieve the icedtea archive from http://icedtea.classpath.org/download/source/ , and then refresh the openjdk, corba etc snapshots, originally
%define openjdk_snapshot 0a76e5390e68 %define corba_snapshot 4d9e4fb8af09 %define hotspot_snapshot b28ae681bae0 %define jaxp_snapshot 948e734135ea %define jaxws_snapshot a2ebfdc9db7e %define jdk_snapshot 2054526dd141 %define langtools_snapshot 9b85f1265346
But how do I know which snapshot to use for a specific icedtea release?
(More questions may follow)
Thanks,
Robert
