I think libvorbis in openSUSE:Factory is not a too bad example. It's a rather simple spec file, creates a devel package and follows the shared library packaging policy...

Thanks, it helped me a lot to get started, so I have now libumberlog packaged: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=libumberlog&project=home%3Aczanik%3Aumberlog Once it gets a few more updates (like getting rid of the json-c dependency), I plan to submit it to factory.
