If it's architecture independent it makes little sense to use lib64. If it's really arch-independent the files should be installed in %python_sitelib and not in python_sitearch. Thanks, not doing anything special in the spec file: %install %{__python} setup.py install --prefix=%{_prefix} --root=%{buildroot} --record-rpm=INSTALLED_FILES Thus, I need to ask my question differently. Why does this error only show up on 64 bit for SLES 11 SP1, and how do I avoid it there as all other builds (openSUSE_11.3 and openSUSE_Factory) appear to be happy.
