Hi, thanks for the info, I just opened the bug...
We usually do not do version upgrade just for doing version upgrades.
What about projects that simply release SVN snapshots from time to time in which they added all available bugfixes? In case of rear almost all of the bug fixes are somehow related to somebody not beeing able to recover their system. Since rear deals a lot with hardware, we maintainers have no way to test everything in advance and must rely on user feedback. Wouldn't it be in the interest of our users to get such bug fixes back into the distro on a regular base? Maybe it would prevent a failed disaster recovery for somebody who never tried it out before?
