IIRC, sgmltool is still available in the FTP installation. Dropping it
as unmaintained probably is not an option.

Wondering what is the best way out off this dilemma?

The work around is: after DVD update, do a FTP update: zypper dup. Or go
into the yast software selection and look into the @System repo for
packages with updates (and there will be unmaintained packages too).

Thanks, I'll add a warning or hint to the update chapter of the manual,
how the user can cope with such an issue:
