We could do that, but then we would release half full CDs :)

And the decompression times between lzma -2 and lzma -5 aren't
really worth it. I.e. bzip2 -d is about 3-5 times slower than
either - and the actual speedup depends on your cache size,
older computers will gain more.

So the lzma -2 vs. lzma -5 is really about size vs. compression
time.
