Fresh install a few days ago, KDE3 and Gnome with libdvdcss 1.2.10-6.1 installed and Pacman repo enabled. SMplayer plays audio CDs OK, but attempting to play a video DVD or .iso file made from a DVD locks up the machine (except for mouse) within a few seconds of image display in output window whether run in Gnome or KDE. Video is Nouveau/2D/C61 6150SE rev a2. Is this a bug someone who can do something about it already knows about? Ideas where to start troubleshooting?
What video driver are you using? Start mplayer in an xterm and look for the lines:
========================================================================== AO: [alsa] 48000Hz 2ch s16le (2 bytes per sample) Starting playback... Movie-Aspect is 1.33:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect. VO: [x11] 720x576 => 768x576 Planar YV12 [zoom] ^^^ this is the driver
Other samples: VO: [gl2] 720x576 => 768x576 Planar YV12 [zoom] VO: [vdpau] 720x576 => 1024x576 Planar YV12 [zoom]
etc. You can set the driver in Options -> Preferences -> General -> Video -> Output driver. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation)
