On the other hand, you have to be prepared to deal with more things manually, for instance, the 6629 version of the drivers needs at least one patch to work properly (see patch in thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=40126&page=1&pp=15). As usual, a trade off between convenience, stability and raw performance...Interesting - I've upgraded to the 6629 driver on several linux systems (all suse pro 9.2) and never patched any of them. The thread you referenced seems to indicate that there is a problem running windows games under wine, without the patches, which would explain why I had no problems:
