Well, the old games are usually not performance bound in modern machines,
i.e., when they work, they work well (for the small sample of games I
actually play).

Somehow I never manage to get HL working under wine (I must be the only linux
user that couldn't do it), but I hear it works pretty well. I used to play it
under windows, and it was a pretty solid game, indeed. It may be a little
dated by now, though.
